Failure calling Powerpoint to process presentation

Some users receive the following error message in Blackboard Collaborate when trying to upload Powerpoint slides.  This is a known issue and the workaround is to convert the slides to images.

 

MAC

Step 1. Convert files to Images

  1. Open your Presentation in Powerpoint
  2. Click on File menu / Export
  3. Choose Export location
  4. Change File Format to Jpeg or png
  5. Change width to 1024

  6. Click Export

 

Step 2. Load exported images into Blackboard

  1. Open your Blackboard collaborate session and join your session. Click Load Content
  2. Navigate to the folder on where your images have been saved.  Select all the files you want to import by pressing “Command” + “A’ on your keyboard. Select Open

  1. Select “Import images as individual pages” / Select Load
  2. Your images will now be imported into Blackboard,  If you need to reorder slides, use the “Page explorer” box to drag rearrange slides.

 

PC

Step 1. Convert files to Images

  1. Open your presentation in Powerpoint.
  2. Click on File menu / Export
  3. Click on Change File Type / Select image file types and choose PNG or JPEG / select Save As
  4. Select the folder where new files will be saved.
  5. Select “All Slides” to export
  6. Each slide will now be individually saved as an image to your requested location

 

Step 2. Load images into Blackboard

  1. Open your Blackboard collaborate session and join your session. Click “Loan Content”

 

  1. Navigate to the folder on where your images have been saved. Select all the files you want to import by pressing “Control” + “A’ on your keyboard.  Select Open

 

  1. Select Import images as individual pages / Select Load
  2. Your images will now be imported into Blackboard, If you need to reorder slides, use the “Page explorer” box to drag rearrange slides.
