How to install software from the software center

Some applications such as nVivo and SPSS are distributed through an application automatically installed on SCU computers called the Software Center .

You will first need to open up the Software Center.

In Windows 7 you can use the search bar to search for the Software Center.
In Windows 8 you will find it in the Start Menu.
Once the software Center opens, select the software you would like to install underneath the Available Software tab. Then select install in the bottom right corner.
The application will then appear in the Installation Status tab as it begins installing, the percentage indicates progress. You can close the software center, installation will continue.

Once complete, the application will appear in your Start Menu as normal.

Tip: You can create a shortcut by right clicking on the icon, then

In Win 8: select Pin to Taskbar' -

In Win 7:  select Send to > Desktop to create a desktop shortcut.
