What is my password and username?

At Southern Cross University the majority of systems use the same password. This password is commonly referred to as the SCU Password. Your Username is also common across the majority of systems, however, may be in a different format depending on what service you are logging into.

These two items together are referred to as your SCU Login.

Q. What services and systems will use the SCU password?

A. As the majority of systems will use the same password, the list is long.  So here is a link to the systems that do NOT use it.

Q. What password will I be using?

A. Your password will be the same as the one you currently use for Computer login and Email – now commonly known as your SCU password.

If you don't know this password you can reset it here; How to reset your password, provided you have the following:

  1. For Staff: Your personal details are current in MyHR, including a personal mobile number and/oremail address. To update these please visit: 'How to change contact details in MyHR'
  2. For Students: Your personal details are current in MyEnrolment. To update these please visit: 'How to change contact details in My Enrolment'

Q. What is the difference between the Change Password portal and the Reset Password portal?

A. The reset portal is used if you forget your password. The change portal will be used if you know your password, but:

1) A system says it’s time to change (eg: some systems require a new password every 3 months)

2) A user practices good security and chooses to change their password

3) Technology Services may identify a threat and users will be asked to change their password reset portal is used if a user forgets their password

Q. What username do I need to log into SCU systems?

A. The username will not change, and you will continue to use the following formats for the username.

MyHR (Staff)

Staff short name uses the following format with a total of 8 characters or less.

<first initial of your first name><your surname (may also include a number)> 

For example, if your name is Jane Smith, your short username would be jsmith. If it was Jane Smithington it would be jsmithin. If you share a name with another staff member, you may also have a number e.g jsmith2.

Email (Staff)

<full first name>.<full surname>@scu.edu.au

For example, if your name is Jane Smith, your email address would be jane.smith@scu.edu.au

Email (Students)

<first initial of your first name>.<full surname>.<the 2-digit number at the end of your MySCU username>@student.scu.edu.au

For example, if your name is Harry Jones, and your MySCU username is hjones10, your email address would be h.jones.10@student.scu.edu.au

MySCU (Staff)

Staff short name uses the following format with a total of 8 characters or less.

For example, if your name is Jane Smith, your short username would be jsmith. If it was Jane Smithington it would be jsmithin. If you share a name with another staff member, you may also have a number e.g jsmith2.

MySCU (Students)

Students short name uses the following format with a total of 8 characters or less plus a number. This number is the same as the one in their email address.

E.g. Harry Jones is hjones10

My Enrolment - Is your student ID number.

Wireless - Is your short username.
